Ready for a summer holiday in a wine tank? In an abandoned wine factory directly on the Greek Kourouta Beach, the visionary Nikos Karaflos has created a unique property by turning an old winery into a very special design hotel with a great deal of sensitivity.
The Dexamenes Seaside Hotel on the western coast of the Peloponnese sleeps in former wine tanks from the 1920s, which have been transformed into chic accommodation in industrial chic with steel, glass and wood. However, the original structures were preserved. The Athens architectural office K-studio was in charge. Some of the luxurious wine tanks even have their own terraces, such as the Beachfront Wine Tanks Suites with stunning sea views.
The restaurant serves organic and local food, including vegan and gluten-free dishes. Further highlights: the "Kantharos Gatherings" by curator Eleni Tranouli, a series of wine tastings designed by contemporary artists, which take place throughout the summer (double room from approx. 160 €, dexamenes.com).
