A historic Art Nouveau villa from 1908 was carefully and stylishly extended with a modern new building. The result is a kind of Gesamtkunstwerk, enthroned in the middle of a park, with a panoramic view over the mountains. Three women from the Oberhofer-Kiniger hotelier family stand behind this gem. Heidi and her daughters Judith and Paula set tasteful accents throughout the house with unique finds from flea markets, antique shops and corner shops. Old gold-set mirrors and antique lamps, chairs and armchairs complement modern design classics, for example by Thonet, Nanimarquina and Vincent Sheppard. And the colourful wallpapers with plant and animal motifs were created especially for the house by the creative studio Peppis from South Tyrol.
For a more peaceful sleep, each of the 35 bright, fully equipped feel-good apartments with kitchenette either have a small garden or a terrace with mountain views. Vintage fans feel at home in the two 75 square metre apartments in the Art Nouveau villa. In addition to the free-standing bathtub, partially exposed historical wall painting and high ceilings, selected old pieces of furniture adorn the furnishings of these unique rooms.
Breakfast at the VillaVerde Aparthotel is also a highlight: every morning from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., chef Hannelore and her team serve homemade jams and hearty specialities, as well as fresh organic bread specialities from the region, muesli and egg dishes. Of course the ingredients come from local farmers, beekeepers and dairies. Super relaxing: the "Salone" spa with three separate relaxation rooms overlooking the park as well as a bio-sauna, steam bath and Finnish outdoor sauna. In the 25-metre-long, heated outdoor pool, guests can take their laps or dive into the natural pool. Would you like a city trip to the centre of Merano, about ten minutes away?
